The Pride and Joy of any collection - the record that birthed so much for the music world, with Elvis' recording of "That's All Right," considered to be the BEGINNING OF ROCK AND ROLL. Evidence of its authenticity are the 3 push marks visible on both sides and the inscripted codes in the trail off - "U-128-45" and "U-129-45" with #72 spaced off to the right (see close-up pic). I've just played this pioneering piece of history - both sides, and it played amazingly well considering its age. You could definitely tell you were listening to vinyl with its soft hiss, but it didn't take away from the songs, but only accentuated the vintage beauty of the pre-digital era. To hear the creative void of these songs suddenenly fill with a reved-up raw Elvis jumping right into his unique style like a fish finally finding water, is to witness a rare moment in history, a magic the world has never witnessed, nor will ever again. The recordings reveal Elvis' innate modular range of his tone as he even then engaged in an intimate dance with the mike via contolling distance. You can hear an early attempt by Elvis to adlib notes on "That's All Right," a vintage sound so pregnant with vitality and Spring's first budding for the music industry. I swear I could close my eyes and Elvis would basically appear on this carpeted floor while this intimate 45 spun to life. Even the guitar work reverberates with special energy, owing to the elasticity of the magic voice it harmonized with. 

It was recorded at Sun Studio in 1954 with Elvis Presley providing vocals and rhythm guitar, Scotty Moore on lead guitar, and Bill Black on upright "slap" bass. It was produced by Sam Phillips in the style of a "live" recording (all parts performed at once and recorded on a single track). The recording contains no drums or additional instruments. The recording session was Presley's fourth visit to the Sun Studio. His first two visits, the summer of 1953 and January 1954, had been private recordings for Presley's mother. Upon finishing the recording session, according to Scotty Moore, Bill Black remarked, "Damn. Get that on the radio and they'll run us out of town."

While no expert on music, I am blessed with working ears and a sensitivity to heart-drenched expressions, and I do know that there is much variation on the verdicts of even the most astute connoisseurs in the field of affixing numbers to something realistically beyond the grasp of whole numbers. I have provided more pictures and more close-ups (even using a magnifying glass in front of my lens) then other sellers I've seen, so that interested parties can get an informed look, with a close-up feature. Additionally, I play records daily on my Technics phonograph (Panasonic) as a diamond needle adorns classic precious vinyl (see actual 45 playing in listed pic) and have listened to enough vinyl to know that I thoughly enjoyed the listening experience afforded by this particular record. Of course, a professional cleaning and simple manipulations of the needle weight, speed, speakers, volume, and even quality of the needle, etc., offer listerners more variation in the particular sound they are seeking. The visual appearance of the labels is appealing, legible, and intact, except for small chip in the inner circle, a character mark, that does not affect the playing and it joins the more welcomed circular imprints left by the identifying push marks. I'm aware of auctions that have sold this seminal gem for $3,000 or more as Elvis' magic touches more and more generations and counties. I want this record to go to a passionate collector at an affordable price, and thus I have lowered its starting bid with NO RESERVE - meaning, the final price is up to you. I hope you have tried to tune into my description, and realize that each 45 has its own unique charm & character owing to its unique life, handling, and production, not too unlike an art print from a master. One day viewing a Van Gogh, I noticed a brush hair enshrined in the impasto - it was not intentional, I'm sure, but who would see it as a flaw instead of a part of the ferocious handling of the brush in an effort to capture the fleeting vision. Listening, truley listening to a part of history will endear you to the uniqueness of particular records - it may have "warts," but it will also bear beauty marks, and all of this will add up to its over-all unique character and charm. You will be sent to the record's unique zone if you only allow yourself an openness to the medium, and I like where this one has sent me. Please do not pass up this rare opportunity to acquire Elvis in his most LIVELY incarnation - a mother-loving, truck-driving, man with a song that oozed heart. It is not often that such an increasingly RARE piece of history becomes available: my last sun record didn't last but one day before it was passionately snatched up. I would just keep it, displaying its charm with my platinum albums while its value quietly accrues.
