Description
ELVIS PRESLEY - 'THAT'S ALL RIGHT MAMA'/'BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY'
Recorded on July 5th in 1954, this unrehearsed recording of "That’s All Right" by Elvis marked the birth of rock-and-roll.
We are proud to present this historic & genuine 1st U.S. pressing of that legendary record on the Sun Records label: Sun 209
All of the hallmark identification details are present to confirm this as a 100% genuine disc:
'Push marks' are visible on each label
Matrix numbers: U-128-45 72 & U-129-45 72
The disc is housed within an original 'Sun Record Co.' die-cut sleeve.
CONDITION
Labels: NEAR MINT
As you can see from the images, both are perfectly clean & free from any writing, stickers or stains. The only blemish is a pin-head sized spot of missing paper on the 'That's All Right' label, close to the edge in the 7 o'clock position.
Visual: EXCELLENT
This copy has been well-looked after and both playing surfaces are extremely clean and retain an excellent deep-gloss shine. Strong daylight shows less than a handful of very light surface marks (not scratches) on each side. Closer examination beneath halogen light reveals little more than a small number of harmless wispy paper-type hairlines, but nothing more of significance.
Sound Quality: GOOD
After playing the disc on our EMT 950 transcription turntable, we can report that although the disc appears to have been little played, there is noticeable surface noise/hiss throughout. However, there are no clicks, pops, jumps or any other audible faults.
Cover: NEAR MINT
Clean & crisp with no damage or wear.
