Elvis The Great Performances mixes some big hits alongside many enjoyable albeit less successful songs, many of which are Elvis staples not to be found on greatest hits collections. There are early Elvis recordings, Elvis movie favourites, and selections from his later years all coming together to convey the magic of the King's entire music career. The real claim to fame for this particular album is the inclusion of My Happiness, billed as Elvis' very first recording, newly discovered after 37 years. Two other early recordings featured here are That's All Right and Shake, Rattle & Roll/Flip Flop & Fly. Top ten hits include Heartbreak Hotel, Don't Be Cruel, Teddy Bear, Jailhouse Rock, Treat Me Nice, and Return to Sender. King Creole and Trouble have that Elvis rebellious air to them, while Got a Lot of Living To Do should have been a top ten hit. Always on My Mind and American Trilogy showcase Elvis' country music roots. The version of Unchained Melody is interesting he imbues the song with passion. Memories, is a truly appropriate way to close the album as it offers a poignant reminder of Elvis' unique magic and eternal importance. LP housed in picture jacket with inner sleeve in excellent condition with vinyl showing some faint marks but remains in excellent condition.

The record has been played enough that the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably and may have pops and skips. The sleeve may suffer from scuffs, spine splits, ring wear and/or discolouration.
