 This is a tough one to figure out.An unbelievably rare sleeve we believe from 1956.That it was once reported to have enclosed the single "Mystery Train" is apropos, because it's currently a mystery exactly how this sleeve was used! Noted Elvis authority Jerry Osborne mentions in the 2006 edition of Rockin' Records that he had for years believed the sleeve was associated with "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You". More recently, it's become a little more cloudy, with reports that other records had come in the sleeve. RCA used similar "Life" promo sleeves for other artists, and since "Mystery Train" was Elvis' first RCA release, it makes sense that the sleeve would have accompanied that record. Osborne suggests that other Elvis releases in 1956 might have also come in the sleeve. One thing is for sure - this is a rare item that we have heard of, but not previously seen before.We have found evidence of only one copy ever being sold on eBay.The sleeve shows quite a bit of wear and fraying along the top and some discoloration.It seems to be held together at the botton only,the glue having worn away through storage.You can make an Elvis collector's Christmas a very merry one with this one.Good luck.We will ship this sleeve registered mail to insure it's safety.

Record Condition:

  • M- Mint Minus - a near perfect record and cover when applicable.A record or cover would only show a hint of aging.Should play beautifully.
  • VG+  Very Good Plus close to near mint with only superficial signs of use.Covers may show light shelf wear. Again,the record should play nicely.A very nice and satisfying record that was well taken care of.
  • VG Very Good - a used, reasonable copy. Very average with some surface noise and the possibility of cover defects such as writing,seam splits.The vinyl should still play fine with no heavy scratches.
  • VG- Very Good Minus - significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise.The cover will show quite a bit of wear.We would only use this grade for a very rare record.
  • G+ Good Plus.  A space filler until something nice comes along.Again,we will only use this for the very rare record.
