This is a PROMOTIONAL Album from our personal collection accumulated as an employee at a major market AM radio station in the late 60s and 70s.  Just looking at other offerings this album appears (5-26/27-71) to pre-date most all other promotional album releases.  Read on!!!!

This is an original (not a remastered) Radio DJ PROMOTION LP from Cotillion Records which includes a full color gatefold insert of the production album front & back cover.   The actual cover/jacket is plain white with no markings (but has handwritten on it “Tarkus Emerson Lake & Palmer”, by either the record company or record promoter).  The vinyl LP has a Promotional WHITE LABEL marked with “Sample Copy Not For Sale” and the additional codes “ST-CTN-712253 SP” (side one) and “ST-CTN-712254 SP” (side two).  Also stated on the label is “Produced by Greg Lake for E G Records” and manufactured by Atlantic Recording Corp. 

The LP’s vinyl itself has the following “hand written” codes/characters etched in the vinyl.  Side one has “ST-CTN-712253 DJ” (shown twice) and then very faintly “5-27-71”.  Side two has “ST-CTN-712254 A” then very faintly “AT/GP”, and “5-26-71”.

CONDITION:

ALBUM VINYL (NEAR MINT):  The record appears brand new, as if it has never been played.  As the sole owner we never played the album, however it could have been played by the record promoter.  The vinyl shows no signs of wear at all.

ALBUM INSERT (VERY GOOD PLUS):  The gatefold insert shows light wear on the folded edge and a small crease (1/4”) in the front upper right corner. 

JACKET/SLEEVE (VERY GOOD):  The jacket came as a plain, unmarked, white jacket.  As stated above the album name and group were hand written on the front.   The jacket has one creased corner and very slight wear on one edge.
