Description

Brian Eno Moebius Roedelius ( Cluster ) AFTER THE HEAT
1978 LP Germany Sky Records sky 021
w/ Holger Czukay (Bass) Can

martdee June 11, 2017 Quite simply, a genius, that word is all too lightly bandied around today but if any one person falls into that category, its Eno. The man puts you in an entirely different headspace each time you listen and his music is truly timeless. I have a very wide musical palate, from folk to heavy metal to industrial indie to experimental jazz rock to pop and Eno is the one of the few who's music you can go back to time and time again and still hear it differently. From an output spanning nigh on fifty years, that is a remarkable achievement.
Brian Eno is best known for his pioneering work in ambient music and contributions to rock, pop, electronic, and generative music. A self-described "non-musician", Eno has helped to introduce a variety of unique conceptual approaches and recording techniques into contemporary music, advocating a methodology of "theory over practice" throughout his career. He has been described as one of popular music's most influential and innovative figures.

Cluster was a German experimental musical group consisting of Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius. They recorded albums in a wide variety of styles across electronic, avant-garde, and rock music, and influenced the development of contemporary popular electronic and ambient music.

Holger Czukay is probably best known as a co-founder of the krautrock group Can. Described as "successfully bridg[ing] the gap between pop and the avant-garde", Czukay was also notable for having created early important examples of ambient music, for having explored "world music" well before the term was coined, and for having been a pioneer of sampling.
