Enrico Mainardi plays Johann Sebastian Bach
Suites for violoncello solo. no.1 G-major, BWV 1007; no.2 d-minor, BWV 1008
Original 12. 4. 1954 mono-recording and heavy-flat pressing on German DGG ARCHIV 14029 APM with silver-blue "Alle Rechte" label. Sticker on cover: 'Freigabe - Bescheinung technisch Künstlerisch' which shows only the very early pressings. Pressing date in dead wax: June 1954
Condition of foldout-cover: VG+ to Near Mint (no damages, a bit tatty, with the two original ARCHIV-cards with informations about the recording.
Condition of Suite no.1 has a several fine hairline marks, causing fine surface noise in the beginning. There is a scratch in band 1, causing tics. Otherwise Suite 1 has almost no surface noise; strong marks on the label
Condition of Suite no.2: Surface noise in the beginning same as Suite No 1, scratch causing fine tics in the middle of band 1. Otherwise Suite 2 has almost no surface noise;
Playgraded with Thorens 124 and mono pick-up ! Musical impression: Superb natural, immediate and dynamic sound. Reference performance.
