Eric Burdon & The Animals, Winds Of Change, Orig UK MGM Mono LP EX/EX 1st Press.
Description
This is the original 1967 UK MGM mono press, with the rough yellow & black MGM labels with the 'Sold in the UK..' label text, with the earliest 1-A 1-B matrices and the 1-M 1-A stampers of the very first presses.
The original Animals had split up in September 1966 and their last recordings were released as 'Animalisms' in November that year. In the aftermath Eric Burdon recruited new musicians, including John Wieder & Vic Briggs to form Eric Burdon & The Animals, moving towards a more psychadelic rock sound. Burdon had thrown himself into the new Hippie scene in London and America and emerged as a spokesman for the love generation. The album was recorded between February to August 1967 and includes covers of the Rolling Stones 'Paint It Black' and a homage to Jimi Hendrix 'Yes, I Am Experienced' as well as the hit single 'San Franciscan Nights'.
The Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd front laminated sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear and some light laminate rubbing/creasing on the front cover, with some light discolouration and storgae rubbing on the unlaminated rear, with a small nick in the opening. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact, slightly discoloured & in EX condition.
Overall, a really great listen, that plays loud & clear. The matrix nos. are; MGM-8052-1 stamper 1-M, MGM-8053-1 stamper 1-A. This is one of the early copies of the original 1967 UK mono issue of this album!
