1970 original UK first pressing

Description:

Artist: Eric Clapton

Title: Eric Clapton

Label: Polydor

Catalog Number: 2383 021

Country: UK

Issue: The original 1970 UK first issue

Vinyl Grade: Near Mint.  There are NO spindle marks on either label.  Please see photos, I always show close-ups of the labels at an angle to reveal any spindle marks (or absence of spindle marks) on the labels.  Vinyl shines like new, and plays outstanding.  My once-through (I had to hear it) may have been the first play for this record, it still has black vinyl shavings in the spindle hole which you should be able to see in one of the close-up photos.  A superb original UK example of this great album.

Has the desirable A//2, B//3 matrix:

Matrices:

Side One:         2383021            A // 2  ? 420      A  (at 3 o’clock) O  (at 9 o’clock)

Side Two:         2383021            B // 3  ? 420      A  (at 3 o’clock) 7  (at 9 o’clock)

Cover Grade:  Near Mint, there are NO issues with this cover, only the minor signs of aging common to all laminated UK covers of this era.   The spine's upper and lower corners are properly "pinched", and the deep-gloss lamination is complete on front and back.  Comes with original UK shop sticker on front, "Polydor SUPER" logo front and back, and "Printed and made by MacNeil Press Ltd." on back cover, all as original.  This is easily the nicest example I have come across.

Inner Sleeve:  Original UK poly-lined paper inner sleeve, with "Made in England" and correctly dated "0770" for July, 1970.  The LP is stored in a modern poly-inner sleeve to protect both the record and the original inner sleeve.  No splits or other issues, only the minor discoloration shown in the photo

Notes: Eric Clapton's first solo album and one of his very best, an all-time classic, original 1970 1st issue on UK vinyl.  The fragile MacNeill Press Ltd. cover is in terrific condition, comes with the original unsplit "Made in England" inner sleeve dated "0770" and the all important vinyl is near mint condition, with no spindle marks on either label.  A complete package, original 1970 UK first issue in top collector condition.

Packaging (open LPs): The album will be removed from the cover to eliminate the possibility of seam-splits.  The LP and cover are placed in a clear outer protective sleeve, and sealed.  The (now sealed) album is then sandwiched between two large cardboard stiffener pads, carefully centered and taped together.  This keeps the LP stationary and the album cover centered, allowing the oversized cardboard reinforcement pads to protect the edges and corners of the cover from dings.

The album “sandwich” is then packaged with bubble-wrap and Styrofoam peanuts in an oversize box.  The box is large enough that it should easily withstand even being dropped directly on its corner without damaging the cover inside.  I know very well what it is like to receive poorly packaged records, so I am careful to make sure your album is safely packaged and arrives safely.
