Original US mono pressing on purple Prestige /New Jazz – not deep groove, so later pressing before 1964 when NJ folded.
Owned by me since late 60s

Out There is a 1960 jazz album by Eric Dolphy. It was Dolphy's second album released as band leader, following his time with Charles Mingus. The album features four original compositions by Dolphy, one of which is a collaborative effort with Mingus. The album also features three covers, "Eclipse" by Mingus, "Sketch of Melba" by Randy Weston and "Feathers" by Hale Smith. The cover features a painting by Richard Jennings, referred to as "the Prophet" in Dolphy's album, At the Five Spot. Many of the double bassist Ron Carter's effects were singular to the day of the recording, making this album rather impromptu.

CONDITION:
SLEEVE: VG++ to EX— Small sticker tear top right, spine taped but intact beneath tape; no damage, slight surface wear & corner bumps, no rips in pasted back panel.
RECORD: EX Vinyl is glossy with very few marks, fine scuffs, a few hub spindles; sound quality is outstanding – this is possibly one of Prestige’s infamous ‘recycled’ vinyl pressings as there is low incipient hiss throughout, but it doesn’t detract for a moment from the clarity and depth of the sound.
