Description
With this being a sealed copy, I can only determine it’s a reissue (double LP + gatefold, obviously) from 2016 from UMe / Motown. There are 3 versions that fall under this barcode: one from the US, one from Europe that is the exact same as described above, just is specified to be pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Finally there is one more from the US, specified as ‘Vantiva Pressing’.
It’s my belief that they are all 180g, and that Vantiva pressing is only specifying the plant in which it was pressed and nothing else special about the album. This info is from Discogs.com
** There’s also a stamp on the back of the sleeve that says ‘Vinyl Made In Mexico’, but you know what makes all this irrelevant?
The fact that this is a Neo Soul masterpiece by one of the most unique voices in modern music. Erykah Badu is a strong woman who creates her own lane, and I’ve always admired not only her music but also her poise and that she’s somewhat of an enigma, powerfully existing but in the shadows. She’s also the author / composer of one of my favorite tunes of all time regardless of genre, ‘Didn’t Cha Know’.
That tune isn’t on this record but there’s plenty of other bangers responsible for making her a household name. Originally released in 1997, the album still sounds fresh as can be.
