Description
Here is a rare opportunity to purchase both the sheet music and the LP record from which it was transcribed as a do-it-yourself combo package! You have to do it in two parts. This is Part 1.
This auction is for the sheet music portion ONLY. To get the LP record shown in the photo, so you know exactly what the sheet music scores are supposed to sound like - extremely important, as standard music notation does not properly convey all the nuances for flamenco - you need to hear it! - anymore than it would for an Indian sitar raga - you need to buy eBay item #230090660095, or just enter Esteban Sanlucar in the eBay search function to find my buddy Ken's item, listed under LPs in the record section. There is more sheet music included (see below) than is shown in the picture.
The ONLY solo flamenco guitar album ever - plus its sheet music, (or at least most of it ) - by one of the most seminal and influential masters of the Golden Age - Esteban de Sanlucar (aka Esteban Delgado Bernal).
Esteban de Sanlucar's work heavily influenced Mario Escudero and Paco de Lucia, and both have recorded some of his pieces, notably Panaderos (de la Flamenca) and Mantillas de Feria. Numerous others have recorded his work as well, including American flamenco guitarist Peter Evans back in the 'late '60's. Another couple of his pieces that Escudero has recorded on Montilla FM-83 and elsewhere (see my other listings for FM-83) are Castillo de Xauen and Moro y Gitano, using the D and G tunings respectively. Sanlucar also pioneered the Zapateado in D, for which Sabicas is usually given credit. If you wish to learn how - and to do that you need to hear how these pieces sound - when played by their composer - which is a little different than what is generally heard by the public - you'll have to buy both parts. Here's what you get: in the way of sheet music (in a couple of instances all I have are copies, with differences and availability noted: the famous Castillo de Xauen (danza mora in D, copy of score), Moro y Gitano (fantasia, transcription), Panadero Flamenco (panaderos, sort of like a sevillanas; transcription), [Soleares Gaditanas (soleares in E - 'por arriba') - not available as transcription] nor copy thereof], Marisma del Guadalquivir (Zapateado - not available as transcription or copy thereof), Aromas del Puerto (farruca, copy), Mantillas de Feria (fantasia andaluza, transcription) and Los Caracoles (alegrias in C - not available as transcription or copy)
FYI Sanlucar de Barrameda is a port city in southern Andalucia (NW Province of Cadiz) where the Guadalquivir River empties into the Mediterranean and where a very special type of fine dry sherry, Manzanilla, comes from.
