[private pressing, no cat#] USA 1984 2LP Box Vinyl: nm, ex
Cover: vg+ (2 split corners and some minor wrinkles and blemishes) Excellent and mega-rare set of electroacoustic and computer music privately released by the University of Illinois At Urbana-Champaign School Of Music to promote their legendary Experimental Music Studios to prospective students and academics. This collection features the work of luminary faculty like Herbert Brun and current Studio director Scott Wyatt along with more obscure pieces by students, all unavailable elsewhere. The Studio for Experimental Music was an important center for early electronic and computer-composed music founded in 1958 by Lejaren Hiller and utilized by John Cage, Kenneth Gaburo, Salvatore Martirano, Ben Johnston, Jaap Spek, John Melby, and others. Includes insert booklet.

Brun was a German-Israeli-American experimental composer who studied with Stefan Wolpe and worked at early electronic studios in Paris, Munich, and Cologne alongside Gottfried Michael Koenig, Robert Beyer, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Herbert Eimert, Karel Goeyvaerts, Bruno Maderna, and Franco Evangelisti; he was a computer music pioneer and composed using his SAWDUST program. Other references: Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry, Tod Dockstader, Bernard Parmegiani, Vladimir Ussachevsky, Otto Luening, Francois Bayle, Luc Ferrari, James Tenney, Jon Appleton, Ragnar Grippe, Iannis Xenakis, Ilhan Mimaroglu, Pietro Grossi, Paul Lansky, Jean-Claude Risset, John R. Pierce, Max V. Mathews, Newman Guttman...
