Description
This must the rarest record I have come across in over 40 years of collecting and dealing. I can find no information on this band or record anywhere including contacting the R G Jones company itself. This acetate may well be unique. There is no date or catalogue number but sounds end of sixties maybe 1970. The plain white generic sleeve has been customised with the name of the work and the musicians with stick on plastic letters. Home made? You bet! Sounds also as if it's recorded live with maybe the odd vocal overdub. It consists of 11 tracks of great original songs with acoustic guitar, bass, vocals and piano and male vocals. The songs are dreamy mostly acoustic folky psych/pop with prog elements and of course recorded at the legendary studios of R G Jones in Surrey where the recording and actual disc cutting were BOTH done at the premises. The nearest comparison I can furnish is Fairfield Parlour/Magna Carta and some of the quieter Floyd moments. I have included a sound file to give you a taster of the material. I have uploaded it to Youtube under Faces In The Road Oak Records or copy and paste the link below. The sound must be judged by the fact that this was recorded by smartphone and although the record is EX+ visually and aurally. Needless to say it would benefit from a professional clean - I have given it a GENTLE wipe with a damp cloth but these are delicate as you know and I dare not do any more as these are basically a layer of lacquer laid over an aluminium disc. It was played once by myself with the appropriate stylus which is brand new. May be the only play this has had. I have played the featured track twice to record for you.
