Description
A Holy Grail for record collectors! This is Fairfield Parlour - on the Vertigo Records label 6360 001. This is an original UK 1st pressing and is always in the highest demand! This one comes with a pretty cool pedigree that I will expand on below. As far as the disc itself, it is absolutely beautiful, looks to be just a hair away from near mint and most would call it a 9 out of 10 visually. Just a couple light scattered superficial marks. Should play great! Nice labels as well - please see close ups. Side 1 Matrix: 6360001 1 Y // 1 Side 2 Matrix: 6360001 2 Y // 1 Side 1 Stampers: 1 1 2 Side 2 Stampers: 1 1 2 Jacket has much deeper richer color than the photos really show. It is textured and does have a little bit of ring wear on reverse as you can see. Would call it a 7 or 8 out of 10. I have not play graded this disc because, frankly / sadly, I don't have equipment that I consider high end enough to tackle this disc and I don't want to risk any harm to it. Missing original Vertigo inner sleeve.
So, now for that pedigree. This copy was part of the BeatHaven Records archives that have been sold at auction in multiple parts. Below is an excerpt from the auction listing for this particular copy. Enjoy and don't let this one get away!
Fairfield Parlour From Home to Home Stereo LP (UK - Vertigo 6360 001, 1970). Essentially the same band as London Psych greats Kaleidoscope, Fairfield Parlour released the LP From Home to Home in 1970. Though many critics were referring to the band as Progressive Rock at the time, From Home... featured the same style of Psych Rock with medieval-inspired lyrics as Kaleidoscope. This is the original UK press of the album on Vertigo Records issued with a textured gatefold cover and swirled Vertigo label. Includes original Vertigo inner sleeve. Condition: EX 7.5 (sleeve - minor edge and ring wear)/MT 9 (disc). From the Original BeatHaven Archive.
More Information:
Opening in the mid-1980s in San Diego and shutting its doors in the 1990s, the original BeatHaven Records specialized in rare Beat, Garage, Psychedelic, and Progressive Rock records from the 1960's and 1970's from around the world. Their collection included especially rare treasures that would have been tough - if not nearly impossible - to find elsewhere. Heavily involved with mail order, BeatHaven sold to a network of collectors the world over and helped standardize the prices realized by extremely obscure records today. With such worldwide correspondence, BeatHaven didn't merely bring collectors rare pressings of established acts from the United States and the UK, but uncovered hordes of rarities found all across the globe. They served to educate people that the music scenes found in the US and UK existed all over the world. Through their international research and outreach they helped discover numerous bands whose existence were virtually unknown outside their own countries at the time by even the most knowledgeable collectors of the day. From Peruvian Psych Rock, to South African Prog and beyond, BeatHaven had it all! Here is Part Two of the Original BeatHaven Archive, offered for auction for the very first time anywhere.
