FAITH NO MORE King For a Day, Fool For a Lifetime, ORIGINAL FIRST-PRESSING 1995 US 2-LP Album Black Vinyl. Slash Records / Reprise 45723-1. NM/VG+. Please see all pictures and above “Item Specifics” for in-depth details. The 4 records, both sides of each, are absolutely NM conservatively graded—but better, just about MINT, nice and glossy and look like they were never played! Just about PERFECT. The jacket (a regular one, not released with a gatefold) I am grading VG+. Could be considered EX, but it does have the “saw-cut” and on the front it has a light “cut mark” like from a knife, in the middle two-thirds section of the jacket. See last photo as well as the first main photo. This cut mark does NOT go through the jacket and is nothing major. I can’t remember but I may have been the DOPE who did it! LOL! I may have been over-enthusiastic when I was removing the shrink back in ‘95? I’m sorry! But it’s nothing that ruins the awesome Artwork—from Eric Drooker, famous graphic novelist, this in-particular is from “Flood” by Drooker. FNM also used Drooker’s Artwork for their singles from this album. It’s great stuff. And I DID do what is most-important: I took damn good care of these 4 records. They are beautiful and about MINT. Absolutely.

Okay for you “Audiophiles” out there, you will not be disappointed or upset over the SOUND, the cutting, the mastering here. This album is definitely considered to be excellent in this regard! I realize that there are “Audiophiles” out there, more than ever before these days, who will analyze vinyl records. These ppl are experts in recorded music and will put-on the headphones a lot, and they have pretty-strict standards. This album, 2 LP’s from 1995, is one of the finest in this regard (exceptionally fine for 90’s vinyl.). There are reasons for this. This was the first and last FNM album NOT recorded in Northern California, home of these guys. It was done in Woodstock, NY, at Bearsville Studio. Of course Guitarist Jim Martin was not on this album either, Billy Gould the Bass Guitarist took-over for Martin. This point is perhaps just “ancillary” but is important overall. Martin was in disagreement with what could be called FNM’s “multi-genre” new direction with this music. He was of course later in 1995 replaced altogether with Mr. Bungle guitar Trey Spruance. Spruance was replaced before the Tour by Dean Menta—Band Roadie and Keyboards. That is, Dean Menta did Lead-Guitar at this point. Reportedly, Spruance didn’t want to go on tour with all that, that entailed (a hard life!). So FNM (Faith No More) worked a long time at Bearsville Studios up there in the sticks in New York LOL. It took about 9 months to write and rehearse the material. Then recording it took like 3-4 months. ANDY WALLACE was their Producer. This expert had done work with Slayer and Nirvana. Also Sonic Youth (I think you’re getting a good idea of Andy Wallace’s work—very very good stuff!).

Roddy Bottum was not around much there in Woodstock while FNM was creating this album. His own father died, also this was when NIRVANA Frontman and GENIUS ARTIST Kurt Cobain died. WHO CAN FORGET THAT? Courtney Love always was a vg friend of Roddy Bottum—Courtney Love was of course once a singer with FNM. Bottum was having problems with “H” too. So there is not much KEYBOARDS on King For a Day, Fool For a Lifetime. Along with everything else, the Guys were in a car accident too, while recording this album.

So, to “cut” to the chase here (PUN INTENDED haha!) , if you take a look at the Matrix Number which I give you in the Item Specifics section up-top, you’ll see the “dead wax” jottings. What is important here is, first MASTERDISK. Mr. Howie Weinberg did the Mastering for these records, this album, at MASTERDISK up in Peekskill New York. Those of you who are into these things will definitely know that when you see MASTERDISK in the “dead wax” or “Matrix number area,” you will already have known before you saw it, by the superb music. They are one of the best. And Howie Weinberg, this guy has got 21 Grammys! In 2017 he was Inducted into The Grammy Hall of Fame for Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” For his work on that. (I always say, “Smells Like Teen…” well..NEVERMIND people lol. Another Pun too ayyy?? I don’t make this stuff up! You can’t I don’t think haha!). I like to put all 4 Matrix Numbers if I can for a 2 LP album, but space is “dear” here. So there’s the same 1-45723 number on each side of each record, then the suffix -A (or B, C, D.). Then the suffix after that, “SR-1” then MASTERDISK for that Mastering Studio. Then the little monogram / logo “SRC” (also the SR1 suffixes above mean this) for Specialty Records Corp. Where the pressings were done. The manufacturing, the sleeving and jacketing and shrink wrap. Everything. Okay so there’s that. You also have Engineering done by Cliff Norell and Chris Laidlaw (Assistant Engineering.). And lastly, a point that’s near-and-dear to me, you’ll also see in the Matrix / Deadwax the “SRC” logo. For Specialty Records Corporation, where I myself worked for many years. I mentioned I believe in a previous listing, that this Record Pressing Plant was one of the BEST in the USA. I know this firsthand. You’ll see reviews on the Internet like Discogs, people’s comments etc., for this particular FNM Record Album. For you Audiophiles. As well as MASTERDISK mastering and Specialty Records Corporation record pressing in general. I did not work on the Press Floor but I know the fine work these people did. In Olyphant, Pennsylvania.

This is better, believe me, Audiophile Type People, than any of the other FNM later issues of this album.
