FAMILY Family Entertainment UK REPRISE STEAMBOAT FIRST A2/B2 PLUS POSTER Prog
Family, Family Entertainment.
UK pressed Reprise Records stereo LP, RSLP 6340.
Earliest pressing featuring the mustard yellow and light green "riverboat" design and "Pop Series" wording. A2/B2 matrix suffixes.
Vinyl visually EX with just a few spindle marks and glossy surfaces with just a very few superficial hairline scuffs, and a couple of slightly more visible but also surface only scuffs.
Note that any black marks visible to the vinyl in the photo are merely reflections.
Playback is a solid EX. The cut is bright and sonorous without evidence of groove wear or distortion. Just some very short-lived and very low-level instances of crackle, but these are not enough to distract from listening pleasure. The surfaces are underlyingly quiet and there are no clicks or ticks.
Labels are clean and undefaced both sides.
Plain paper inner sleeve has diagonal corner creasing but is unmarked, unbrowned and without splits.
Large poster insert is in generally excellent condition. No softening or tearing along fold lines. Small diagonal crease to bottom right corner, else free of anything but absolutely marginal handling creasing. The main picture side of the poster still has an excellent overall appearance. The reverse side features full lyrics, and this side is also very clean and white. There are a couple of very small and light tan stains to the bottom right panel. The bottom corners have slight linear tan marks indicative of a mark left around the outline of a removed piece of sellotape for display purposes. These are pretty light and unobtrusive and there is no surface loss, tearing or discolouration of the corners other than these very light and minor linear marks. All in all poster close to EX.
Sleeve close to EX. The laminated front panel still has a good gloss and is free of marks, loss etc. When rotated a light ringwear impression circle and gentle rubbing is noticeable, but this is not heavy and not visible at certain angles. Aside from this there are just a couple of hairline laminate imperfections/half moons and a few pinch line type creases leading in from edge areas.
NOTE that glossy laminated black sleeves never photograph well, and light tends to bounce off any imperfections. The sleeve looks very much better than the photo suggests.
Unlaminated rear panel is mostly black in hue and still has deep colour without whitening rubbing. A very tiny penned name within the white F of Family to top left of rear panel. Visible rear backflaps are clean and undamaged. Edges are unworn and there are no seam splits. Tips slightly rubbed but without heavy wear or rounding. Entry side is still crisp with just a few very gentle dings but no softening or feathering.
Rear of sleeve has a white "this Stereo record can be played on mono reproducers" etc. sticker to bottom right corner.
In summary although not quite near mint, still a top end issue of this scarce first issue.
