Condizioni : la copertina ha nel lato frontale un discreto ring wear, alcune grinze, l'impressione di una X lasciata da una penna o matita nei pressi dell'angolo superiore destro e qualche ritocco con il pennarello nero; bello stato, VG++  / vinile che sembra poco meno che nuovo, tuttavia l'ascolto rivela pochi modesti clicchettii; grande stato, EX+

Condition : the front side of the cover has a rather visible ring wear, some creases, the impression of an X left by a pen or pencil near the top right corner and some retouches with the black felt pen, VG++ / vinyl looks a little less than new, but its listening reveals a few light clicks, EX+

GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : gruppo Californiano, film girato in quello Stato ma con colonna sonora stampata in Australia. Perchè? Intanto bisogna dire che i Farm stamparono nel 1970 un edizione limitata di 1000 copie di questo disco su un etichetta privata con copertina fotografica solo sul fronte e completamente diversa da quella Australiana e con un brano dal titolo differente: "The Eater" invece che "V12 Cadillac" anche se il contenuto è identico. La mancanza poi di qualsiasi credito, titolo, ecc., ecc. su entrambi i lati dell'etichetta con una spirale che ricorda vagamente il vortice della Vertigo Inglese, dà l'idea anche se sbagliata di avere a che fare con un disco pirata piuttosto che con un album originale. E' stato ristampato in cd dalla casa discografica Giapponese EM nel 2007 che ha utilizzato la copertina dell'edizione privata USA. Inoltre il regista George Greenhough nativo di Santa Barbara in California ha sempre coltivato grandi ed amichevoli rapporti con l'Australia anch'essa fortemente amante del surf sportivo ed attualmente risiede in Byron Bay nel Galles del Sud dell'Australia. L'album contiene veramente grande musica che lascia piacevolmente sorpreso l'ascoltatore. A prima vista si dovrebbe pensare a musica surf, quella che fino a pochi anni prima furoreggiava negli States e in gran parte del mondo. Le cose non stanno esattamente così. Se è vero che l'anima surf dei musicisti è comunque avvertibile, non a caso alcuni di loro avevano suonato con i Beach Boys, in questo album due sono i principali elementi: il blues rock e la psichedelia, talvolta combinati insieme. Due sole canzoni : "Crystal shingles"(a1) bella ballata blues accompagnata da un'ottima chitarra e "Ground Shuffle" (b3) dalla piacevole tonalità. Essenzialmente blues rock: "Animal" (a2) guidata da una superba chitarra, "Windensea" (a3) dove si apprezzano i contributi del basso e della batteria, "Inner Space" (b4) straordinario ed inusuale blues con suoni della chitarra che sembrerebbero derivare dalla tecnica del pizzicato. Fra le tracce psichedeliche : "Snake Charmer" (a7) brano di lunga durata in cui alcuni coretti maschili in sottofondo creano uno spazio sonoro subito invaso dal basso e dalla batteria  con fraseggi quasi ossessivi. Successivamente organo e chitarra entrano in azione dando vita a una fluidità musicale al tempo stesso innovativa ed eccitante. "The Cruzer" (b2) con belle improvvisazioni di Hammond, buon drumming e intervento della chitarra elettrica. "Coming of the Dawn" (b6) dove chitarra acustica e i cori del gruppo creano un'atmosfera evanescente con batteria, piano e chitarra elettrica che intrecciano i loro suoni. Infine "Outeriff" (b5) che parte con un bel suono blues rock dettato dalla chitarra fino all'entrata dell'organo Hammond con improvvisazioni di gusto psichedelico.

Notes : a Californian group, movie filmed in that country, but soundtrack issued in Australia. Why is that? It must be said that the Farm in 1970 released a limited edition of 1000 copies of this album on a private record company with picture sleeve only on the front completely different from the Australian cover and with another title track: "The Eater" instead of "V12 Cadillac" even if the content is identical. Moreover the absence of any credit, title, etc.., etc.. on both sides of the label with a spiral vaguely reminiscent to the swirl of UK Vertigo, gives the idea even if wrong to be in presence of a bootleg rather than to an original album. It was reissued on CD by Japanese label EM in 2007 which used the cover of private USA edition. In addition, the director George Greenhough although born in Santa Barbara, California has cultived always wide and friendly relations with Australian people, they too also strongly attracted to the surfing, and now he resides in Byron Bay, South Wales, Australia.  The album features truly great music leaving the listener pleasantly surprised. At first glance you should think about surf music, the one that up until a few years before was all the rage in the States and in much of the world. Things are not exactly so. If it is true that the surfing soul of musicians is still perceptible, not by chance some of them had played with the Beach Boys, in this album there are two main elements: the blues rock and psychedelic music, sometimes combined together. Only two songs: "Crystal shingles" (a1) beautiful blues ballad accompanied by an excellent guitar and "Ground Shuffle" (b3) from the pleasant tone. Fundamentally blues rock: "Animal" (a2), led by a superb guitar, "Windensea" (a3) where you can appreciate the performances of the bass and drums, "Inner Space" (b4) extraordinary and unusual blues with guitar sonorities that would seem to derive from the plucking technique. Among the psychedelic tracks: "Snake Charmer" (a7) a track from the long duration wherein some male choruses in the background create a sound space immediately invaded by bass and drums with almost obsessive phrasing. Subsequently, organ and guitar come into play giving rise to a musical fluidity at the same time innovative and exciting. "The Cruzer" (b2) with beautiful improvisations by Hammond, good drumming and nice involvement of the electric guitar. "Coming of the Dawn" (b6), where acoustic guitar and group's choruses create an evanescent atmosphere with drums, piano and electric guitar which intertwine their sonorities. Finally, "Outeriff" (b5) which starts with a nice blues rock led by the guitar up to the entry of the Hammond organ with improvisations of psychedelic flavor.
