Original 1971 Nigerian first press EMI HMV HNLX 5090. NM/NM. Here is a brilliant, incredibly rare barely played original Funky-Nigerian-Highlife-Afrobeat album by the legend 'Fela Kuti', this is the original 1971 Nigerian very first pressing, this 1971 first issue only turns up for sale once in a blue moon. Almost all of these original Ghanain & Nigerian pressed Afrobeat albums of this age surface for sale with very worn/marked and split covers, and vinyls that are usually very overplayed and marked, but this original EMI pressed 'Fela Kuti' album is in fantastic ultra-clean condition and has been barely played at all, the thin card gatefold cover is also in remarkable condition with no faults. This mega-rare Afrobeat album contains just three brilliant long hypnotic jazzy-funky tracks, the 'Gbagada Gbogodo' MP3 provided was taken from my CD version, but the vinyl album plays and sounds just as good with no noticeable surface noise, the other two album tracks are every bit as good.

The vinyl has obviously been barely played at all, both sides are in superb ultra-clean as new condition with a brilliant original sheen, there are no noticeable marks or scratches, in fact there are barely any signs at all that the album has ever been played, all three long tracks play and sound brilliant throughout, there are no clicks or pops and no noticeable background crackle and no lessoning in the sound quality, you will not find this extremely rare album in better condition than this, it's a real collectors keeper copy that will not need a future upgrade.
The EMI HMV labels are in perfect condition, both are as new, there are no marks or wear and also no spindle traces, this is a good indication that this rare album has been barely played at all.
The matt gatefold sleeve was made and printed in Nigeria, this cover is made from pretty thin flimsy card, considering it is almost 40 years old it is in really remarkable condition, the few other original 1971 pressings that have turned up in the past have had very noticeable ringwear and edgewear, but this cover still looks very near perfect, the vinyl has always been kept outside of the sleeve so it's still in superb condition with no signs or traces of ringwear at all and barely even a hint of edgewear. This thin card gatefold cover is simply fantastic and would be very hard to beat. The poly-lined inner sleeve is in nice clean condition but it is not the original, the original white paper inner has some edge splits but it will still be included with the album when posted.

I always print my name and address on the back of all parcels i send, so the chances of a item going missing are pretty much nil. I cannot take responsibility for any non-insured items that may be unfortunate to go missing or get damaged in the post. The recorded post option is always there, it may cost a few extra pounds for international buyers, but it is definitely worth it for the extra piece of mind.
