Description
Promo version ('Echantillon' is French for 'sample') of the projected 1983 issue of Cherry 59 with an unused b side (the released version had 'A Preacher in New England').
I was a huge fan of FELT myself and was on the Cherry Red mailing list as I was contributing to Bucketfull of Brains magazine, who were great supporters of both band and label. I ended up with four copies of this item, two of which I have sold, one sadly is damaged, and here's my personal copy.
When Felt expert Lee McFadden heard this he sent me an e-mail about the B side to say "I'm gobsmacked!!! This is definitely an unreleased version. It sounds like this is the earliest of the (now 5) studio cuts of the song. It sounds like the line-up that recorded 'My face is on fire', 'Trails of colour dissolve' and 'Penelope Tree' - that of Lawrence, Mick Lloyd and Gary Ainge. This was the line-up in between the first two albums - Maurice Deebank had briefly left to record his solo album, 'Inner Thought Zone'. Unheard lyrics too!".
I'm also listing a copy of Felt's debut 45 'Index' with the rare 'poem' sleeve.
