WHY RUN AWAY / MY LUCKY DAY / LA BARCA A VELA / EN LA MISMA PLAYA ... 7-inch, 45rpm EP single by FERNANDO DUERI / vocals by FERNANDO AND THE REFLECTIONS. Original Italian private pressing on the SONOR label (N 32021), from circa early '70s. Beautiful, strange and intoxicating oddity by a mysterious group (most probably led by Palestine born, Nasri Fernando Dueri who studied music theory and elementary harmony in Bethlehem before crafting his unique sound in Beirut hotels and on a European tour). An obscure private pressing on an Italian label we do not know. Whatever, this is a wonderfully psychedelic mix of flower power folk / soft rock and sunshine acid pop with vocals sung in English a la Wickerman horror film soundtrack on the wistfully stoned WHY RUN AWAY theme. Bewitching, groovy and lightly spooky atmospheres with Fernando and his Reflections singing a beautifully crafted yet slightly twisted love song. Sophisticated vocal phrasing (with female backing) / mellow jazzy horn section / lo-fi funky drums / hippie flute and psych pop rhythms of the period. MY LUCKY DAY is also off-kilter / quirky sounding and jaunty, most probably inspired by The Beatles / The Kinks et al. We have recorded both these trax for our soundclip :) Striking picture sleeve artwork with Deliverance cum Southern Comfort backwater looking imagery. Seldom comes up for sale. Very rare EP!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG arabic Lebanon lebanese beirut

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG+ condition with some hairlines and light scuffs. Light surface noises. Some soft pops / soft ticks in places (as you can hear on our soundclip) but mostly to 'La Barca A Vela' and 'En La Misma Playa' which are not important. The soft card picture sleeve is in strong VG+ condition with ring creasing and some corner / edge wear in places. Very rare EP!!!
