This is a VG minus copy of this EXTREMELY RARE BLUE NOTE album, HANK MOBLEY #1560,FIRST PRESSING,featuring HANK MOBLEY,sax, DONALD BYRD, trumpet, JOHN JENKINS, alto sax, BOBBY TIMMONS, paino, WILBUR WARE, bass, and PHILLY JOE JONES, drums. This is quintessential BLUE NOTE 50's JAZZ at its best. It is one of the BEST HARD BOP sessions in the history of BLUE NOTE. I wish it was in better shape, but it is what it is: Ive listened to it start to finish, its plays through, with some clicks and pops, with no skips. It visually looks VG minus, with light marks, no feelable scratches. There is more noise than a VG+ copy, however, as BLUE NOTE collectors marvel at, these LPs are truly amazing: the music SHINES THROUGH even though there is a bit of noise. I have a very reasonable reserve on the LP, considering its condition. I have seen this record go for upwards of a thousand dollars in VG+ condition.

This LP was released in the early to mid 50s, and this is the first pressing. It features the well known Blue and White Double Sided DEEP GROOVE label. It features the second address, 47 W. 63rd, NYC. The run out groove has the "ear" as well as Rudy Van Gelder's initials (RVG). The label has no "inc" or "R" under the Blue Note name.The labels are actually pretty clean( see pics), with very slight spindle marks. Obviously, this is a first pressing. The LP itself is the very thick, heavy vinyl associated with these early 50s pressings.  The sound is still good, even considering the noise being a bit more than my usual standards...I have only seen this as an ORIGINAL pressing once, THIS COPY, and I bought it, because its so rare. I also have the Japanese re-issue (Toshiba) but being a BLUE NOTE fan, I wanted the original as well. Ive been advised by a friend who is a very experienced seller to be very conservative on my ratings, as Im an avid collector, but a relatively new "seller".The LAMINATED cover is in VG condition,with solid spine (although paper over spine is frayed), upper and lower seams intact, and normal shelf wear for an album that is close to 60 years old. There is of course, seam wear on top and bottom corners. Overall, the cover is in pretty good(VG) shape. The classic cover image, by Francis Wolff, and the distinctive graphics, are sharp and clear.

I am a Jazz Pianist and Recording Artist, and have been collecting Rare Jazz LPs for many years. This is one from my personal collection. I assure you, all the LPs I will be offering here have been meticulously taken care of, and only played rarely, on a Sota Sapphire Turntable, with a Grado Reference Cartridge. They have been kept inside a temperature controlled room in my home, in plastic dust jackets. In other words, you can bid in confidence, knowing these LPs come from someone who has loved them and babied them. I reluctantly am beginning to sell some of my LPs, and hope they go to someone who will love them as I have.

All LPs will be carefully packed in proper LP boxes, well protected,and sent USPS Media Rate, unless specifically needed sooner. We can send priority mail if desired. Shipping costs are always based on your location. I do not add "handling"fees, costs will be exactly as I am charged by the shipper of choice.
