The original 1982 pressing of this underappreciated 2 record set of live performances...the first disc covers the small, adventurous, 4-piece band playing smaller venues like the Capitol Theatre in Passaic NJ. The second disc shows off a bigger, more theatrical, more worldly and extroverted group making a whole world of their music.
A very popular band who really transformed music in their shortish career...and whose albums ended up selling very well. But if there's an obscure Talking Heads record, it's this gem, which can function as a giant greatest hits package, as well as a history of a very special band. These are beautifully-recorded and atmospheric cuts that witness the flowering of a great live act (I saw them twice, and feel lucky).
This particular copy is in great condition: the vinyl is NM and pristine and, in fact, gorgeous. The sleeve, with custom heavy-paper inner sleeves with credits and dozens of photos, is NM-, with a bit of corner wear.
Beautiful mastering, like (almost) everything Sire records was doing in those days. This is a first pressing ("Wincester Pressing"), from 1982, mastered (again, and thankfully) at Sterling Sound up on West 46th Street, where when you went inside even in the heyday of digital recording, you found dozens of classic analogue reel decks, mixing boards, tube amps, everything needed to make gorgeous timbre arrive on the vinyl. They're still with us, though not in NYC any longer, but you can make great sound in Edgewater just as easily.
