FLAMING YOUTH (PHIL COLLINS) 1969 1st UK PRESSING FONTANA LABELS CAT NO. STL5533 IMPOSSIBLY RARE 1ST ISSUE, TRI OPENING GIMMIC GATEFOLD! (WITH STAINED GLASS WINDOW EFFECT) THE AUDIO IS PERFECT ON MY SYSTEMS THE PLAYING SURFACE IS NEAR MINT!! #1 #1 EARLIEST MATRIX ENDINGS! 

Another from my personal collection! A mega rare and collectable 1969 Debut and only ever released  album from the group Flaming Youth features the young Phil Colins at the age of 18 years on drums! Virtually impossible to find. The original tripple opening gimmic gatefold has some storageware\damage on the front only but it is in general strong and straight but the real rarety is the vinyl that has barely ever been played the playing surface is awesome, looks very near mint. The audio is cristal clear and vibrant throughout without any distortion clicks or pops! For any avid Genesis and Phil Colins  fans out there this rare 40 year old obscure phych album is a must!!!

Flaming Youth was an obscure British rock group who recorded a single album in 1969 before breaking up!. Today, the band is more known as the original group of pop singer Phil Collins, then 18 years of age, who was the group’s drummer!!.

The band consisted of keyboardist Brian Chatton, guitarist Ronnie Caryl (on bass), Gordon Smith on guitar and bass, and Collins on drums. Toward the group’s end, Rod Mayall briefly joined on organ, and the group became more free-form!!.

The group released an album, Ark 2, in 1969. The LP was released on the Fontana label to some critical but no commercial success. There was also a follow-up single recorded, “Man, Woman, and Child”. After a brief tour, the group dissolved!!.

Collins and Ronnie Caryl both auditioned for Genesis the following year, although Caryl was not successful. Caryl later played with Collins as his guitarist on his solo tours. Collins also kept in touch with Chatton, playing on at least one song by the band Boys Don't Cry on their second album!!.

WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED IN 1969 FONTANA MADE A BIG EFFORT WITH THE PROMOTION OF THIS LP.  ALL 1ST PRESSINGS HAD A TRIPLE GATEFOLD COVER WITH A 'PLASTIC WINDOW' GIVING A 'STAINED GLASS' EFFECT ON THE COVER FRONT ,HOWEVER THIS LP COMPLETELY FLOPPED ON RELEASE AND DESPITE THE PROMOTION & THE 'DE-LUXE' COVER - IT SOLD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

The Vinyl

This is the original thick and chunky type of vinyl only found on the earliest pressings! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping! On initial inspection the playing surface is awesome it is hard to see even a blemish on the playing surface! Any marks that could possibly be seen in strong light would be sleeve removal only. (To be honest I can't see any) There are no audio sounding marks that I can see or hear!!

The Audio quality

I have played this vinyl track for track on a top system at very loud volume prior to listing! The Audio is awesome cristal clear and very vibrant throughout! There is no clicks or pops and certainly no skips or jumps, (no) sighns of any distortion or that this has been overplayed what so ever! In fact it is quite obvious to me that this vinyl has had only minimal play only!

The labels

The original 1st issue Fontana labels are awesome just minimal spidering can be seen angled to the light only. (this has had minimal play only) There is little if (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round!!

The Cover

This is the 1st issue Tri gatefold (The 1st and earlist with the gimmick stained glass window effect.) Please note there is some creasing storageware damage to the front of the cover but the spine is square and the cover in general is veryu strong and straight very rare and sought after!
