Foghat

'Live'

Bearsville, UK, 1977

K55518

FORMED AS a killer amalgam of Black Cat Bones and Savoy Brown. Ripping 12-bar boogie is the order of the day and it doesn't get much earthier than this album incredible live album recorded at the height of their career. This is the record that really consolidated the Foghat sound - huge riffing monster boogie influenced by Cactus and Status Quo.

Lonesome Dave Peverett is in fine fettle, kicking into 12-bar grooves big time, whilst Rod 'The Bottle' Price slices and dices his guitar like a man possessed. Naturally, the lead track 'Fool For The City' lays down the law in a big way - energy to spare and guitars on fire. Other classic tracks included 'Road Fever', 'Honey Hush' and the head crushing 'Slow Ride'. Its the sound of a band fully in control of their musical destiny playing in a style that reaped massive rewards. Sure it's raw and yes, the pace makes damn certain that the rock 'n roll content is well represented and always in the red zone. You will not be disappointed.

This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.

Pressing: Bearsville, UK, 1977

Vinyl: Beautiful unplayed condition. No spindle marks. Grades as a beautiful shop fresh MINT!

Cover: Again no signs of use - almost unheard of in this condition. As you know, this album was issued with a die-cut cover that is always found trashed, frayed and torn - but not this one as the delicate die cuts have been preserved in perfect consition! Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Beautiful and impossible to find like this 40 years after release. Grades as shop fresh MINT!
