FONTANA TJL5183: TUBBY HAYES 'Tubbs In N.Y.'
UK jazz rarity from 1961, this album by the much-loved English tenor sax player was made during a first visit to New York. He is backed by a sterling American rhythm section: Horace Parlan (p), George Duvivier (b) and Dave Bailey (d) - plus on some tracks, Clark Terry (tp-1) and Eddie Costa (vbs-2). This is an UK 1st Fontana mono pressing with black/silver printing and logo label in a flipback sleeve.
Side 1 'You For Me'/'A Pint Of Bitter' (1/2)/'Airegin' (1/2)
Side 2 'Opus Ocean' (1)/'Soon'/'Doxy' (2)
CONDITION/DESCRIPTION: The disc is E (VG+toVG) with some light scratches, visible under a bright 'grading' light. These have little affect on the playing. The cover is also E (VG+), with some corner damage/edge rubbing and a small amount of creasing on the flipbacks. In the middle of the top seam there is a 3cm incipient split. Down the opening edge of the cover - back and front - there is residue from tape that has now been removed. This has left a brown mark about 2cm wide along the length of the back of the cover. It is less in evidence on the front.
