Fontella Bass (born July 3, 1940, St. Louis, Missouri) is an American soul singer, who is best known for the 1965 R&B hit "Rescue Me".

The daughter of gospel singer Martha Bass (of the Clara Ward Singers), Bass was exposed to music at an early age, and was singing in her church's choir at six years old. As a teenager, Bass was attracted by more secular music. Throughout high school she began singing R&B songs at local contests and fairs. In 1961, Bass found steady work on the local Leon Claxton Show, playing piano and singing in the chorus. She also began playing piano on blues vocalist Little Milton's records. With the support of Bob Lyons, the manager of St. Louis station KATZ, Bass recorded several songs released through Bobbin Records. She saw no notable success outside her home town.(Wikipedia).

There is very little evidence that this single has been played at all.   It has the look of an untouched record and this is highlighted by its very shiny appearance.   The vinyl quality and appearance is absolutely first class.

Dear collector, we are the BARRACLOUGH Brothers of CollectableVinylRecords.

The chronology of the collection stretches from the early 1960s to the early 1980s.   Within this period, there is a concentration of records released between 1965 and 1969 - a seminal era for music that is reflected by its collectability.  Although the spectrum of musical genre is varied, this collection heavily features PSYCHEDELIC, FREAKBEAT, PUNK, MOTOWN and NORTHERN SOUL.  All our items have a low start price of £4.99, because we believe that each will reach its true market value  ~  This is thanks, largely to our loyal client base we have aquired for consistently listing HIGHLY COLLECTABLE Vinyl.   Fresh RARE records usually start on a Thursday, ending 10 days later on the Sunday Evenings.

We have a data-based collection, using the RARE RECORD PRICE GUIDES' grading scale (If you are unaware of this grading system please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will reply as soon as possible with the guides description). As you can see in the description there is a grading given for VINYL and AUDIO QUALITY.  This is necessary because a record may seem poor quality when viewed, but when played the AUDIO QUALITY is often excellent.  Conversely the VINYL QUALITY may seem excellent but when played the AUDIO QUALITY can be quite poor.    

** NOTE ~ If there is any information on this item currently missing i.e - There is no 'Div Share' Audio Player, when stated in the 'AUDIO QUALITY GRADING' there should be at the bottom of the listing.  These changes will usually rectified on FRIDAY MORNING ~ This is usually the cause of any 'REVISIONs' which are stated.
