Description

Doom # DM 01, U.S. ( MD.), 1991. Paste-on cover with b&w insert sheets.

M-/ VG+ to EX
Cover and lp like new and almost surely unplayed, obtained from the record label back in the day. Side 2 track 2 has a small, hatpin-head sized discolored bubble in vinyl ( minor factory defect) which causes a light bump, or bass-y click, for several revolutions going into the song, but is quickly covered by the heaviness of the music and clears up fast. Very clean shape overall, fully guaranteed for 7 days if not satisfactory.

Absolutely awe-inspiring release of lost mid-80s studio tapes by FORCE, legendary underground MD/ Northern VA area band who tore it up on the local scene for a while before their guitarist, Albert Morris, went on to tour regionally with the BLACK SABBATH tribute band IRON MAN in the 80s and 90s.

Basement multi-track lp with a very in-the-pocket, early 70s feel; often sounds reminiscent of SABBATH's "Paranoid" album, only with female vocals by singer Simona Queen! An early release to use the term "Doom metal" in its own liner notes, it contains the mind-numbing instrumental, "C3PO," the incredible hard-guitar sexy groove rockers "Not Today" and "Two Bit Romance," and the urban punk ethos -inspired "Kids With Nuclear Weapons," among other cranium-singeing pieces of sonic shrapnel. This band also put out a now very rare 12" e.p. in 1981, and were really one of the earliest bands ( in the 80s, anyway) in the whole SABBATH-inspired dark hard rock/ doom metal groove. The home made recording quality crystallizes the sound in time and brings it all home.

This lp is the first release on the label, a label which, with its sister label, ( the more stoner-rock/ garage psych-oriented) Peace Records, released regional cult-collectable classic lps by groups such as UNI-VERSE, EARTH GARDEN, OBSTINATION, HEAVY SOUL, THERE, THE OBSESSED ( "Live at The Wax Museum 1983"), PENTAGRAM ( "1972 - 1979" vol. 1 & 2, later partially recycled on the "First Days Here" singles/ demos compilation), BEDEMON ( "Child Of Darkness," long before Black Widow put it out, plus "Child...II" on cd), all in very limited, homemade editions in the early 90s, before fading from the radar. A true hand-made American relic, this album rocks!
