Description
"THE EXCITING SOUNDS OF LE MANS" - "The 34th Grand Prix d'Endurance - June 18&19, 1966".
(London International ghs56007; Stereo; 1966; *UK issue/pressing). RARE. (**Click on the pictures above for more info - *Double click for larger image**).
**This is an original (not a modern reissue) VG+/EX vinyl copy, *UK issue/pressing, of this LP.
**NOTE: *This LP is the actual live recording of the 1966 LE MANS Grand Prix on which the movie Ford v Ferrari is based.
**NOTE: Liner notes on the inside, a full description of the race, are written by Bruce McLaren (who was the winner when the French race officials decided there couldn't be a Ford GT dead heat finish).
**NOTE: There are 9 cuts of narration (by James Tilling), interviews and sounds of the cars.
A1) "The Mulsanne Straight, at night".
A2) "The preparation - and practice session". (interview with Carroll Shelby)
A3) "Prelude to the Start - The Start - and the first lap". (long interview with Graham Hill where he describes each part of the whole course, his car and his laps)
A4) "The Esses at dusk".
B1) "The Mulsanne Straight. The fastest part of the circuit - a resigned farmer - and a drink behind the straw bails". (loud car sounds from the trackside café)
B2) "Mulsanne Corner and The Signaling Pits". (interview with Graham Hill and a signalers voice)
B3) "The Fairground at 10:30pm - and The Esses again". ('the vulgar side of Le Mans' - carnival sounds. Graham Hill talking about his car failing)
B4) "The Pits at 3:30am" - (Graham Hill talking about 'pitting' and the Porsche pit crew. Bruce McLaren talking to Chris Amon about the their car and the track)
B5) "The long haul to victory - and the dead-heat that wasn't". (Bruce McLaren talks about racing at night and the dawn. Interview with McLaren and his teammate Chris Amon. Amon talks about their car and about the finish. Public address announcer explaining the finish and announcing the winner)
**Heavy vinyl pressing (170 grams) is VG+ / EX; light surface marks.
**Glossy finish gatefold cover (pictured is the actual start, drivers running to their cars) has some light general wear. (see pictures)
