Description

FOUR HUNDRED YEARS OF VIOLIN –
5LP Everest 3203/6 Box –
RARE!

This is the Everest "Anthology of the Art of Violin Playing," with violinist Steven Staryck, who at the age of twenty-four was the youngest leader of an orchestra, appointed first chair of the Philharmonic Orchestra by Sir Thomas Beecham.

Disc 1 features “Staryck in Recital,” playing pieces by Fiocco, Handel, Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, De Falla, and Szymanowski, among others.

Disc 2 is called “Every Violoinist’s Guide” featuring traditional etudes by Kreutzer, Dancla, Rode, Kayser, Dont, and Wieniawski.

Disc 3: An “All Wieniawski Program” features the complete Etude-Caprices for 2 violins (Staryck plays both parts), plus a Polonaise, Mazurka, Legende, and Scherzo.

Disc 4: "Italian Baroque Sonatas” from Nardini, Veracini, Locatelli, and Corelli.

Disc 5: Four Sonatas by Bach.  And Disc 6 features “Solo Sonatas” by Pisandel, Geminiani, Stamitz, Hindemith, and Prokofiev, among others.

A fine set, here in a box without fault, within are six platters near mint, as they retain all of their original luster and are unmarked.

For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
