Description
MAN & HIS MUSIC
Frank Sinatra (1966)
For Frank Sinatra collectors, this is one of the most desired Lps in his wide discography. Could it be because of that alluring photo of Sinatra complete with phony mustache, serving up the Budweiser? Sure, that's a plus, but this 1966 Reprise album is such a hot commodity because there were supposedly only 1,000 of them ever pressed.
A thousand records? There are few record from major acts that have smaller pressings than that. Add to that the fact that this wasn't available in stores, but was only sent out to Budweiser wholesalers, and highly placed managers and such who were out to promote the airing of the next Frank Sinatra / CBS TV special 'A Man & His Music' which Budweiser sponsored.
This was the seventh time that Sinatra had a TV special, but it was the first that he'd done one for CBS. Taped June 5-6, 1966 at NBC in Burbank, the special guest star was Nancy Sinatra, who came on and sang several numbers by herself, as you'll hear here. The back of the album gives all the details, it was to air on December 7th, 1966, at 9:10 e.s.t
