Description
I am parting with some of my treasured LPs. Here's a great record from 1974. IT'S JUST ONE OF HIS BEST LP'S----- It's an amazing copy of APOSTROPHE, and released in 1974, which was an outstanding year for Frank. And this LP garnered a lotta attention because of the songs DONT EAT THE YELLOW SNOW and STINKFOOT. Both of which saw some radio airplay. Also of note on this LP are some incredible musicians, most notably George Duke, Jean Luc Ponty, and Jack Bruce on BASS. It's a forward driving progressive LP that mixes the sarcastic humor of his lyrics with an incredible offbeat musical sensibility seamlessly. APOSTROPHE is not an easy LP to find these days, and especially a clean copy in shrink.
The cover is still in shrink, all seams are beautiful as is the spine. It's hard to find this LP with such a clean beautiful cover. Usually when I see them, there's lotsa record rubbing and signs of wear, as this was an LP that saw a lot of play for anyone who bought it. I know I played my copy to death in the 70's. The label shows little signs of play and the vinyl is clean and plays perfectly. Visually the vinyl has a superficial light mark or 2 and a thumb print that can likely be cleaned. However the LP does play beautifully perfect.
This is a keeper of a copy. Let's face it, Zappa LPs didn't sell well, but were incredible. Finding these in such great shape close to 40 years after release is a great find. I am a big Zappa aficionado, and I grab great Zappa LPs all the time, even though I own them all, and then some. He was a treasure of an artist, who was able to march to the beat of his own drum. He was making music that both amused him, and that challenged him. He wasn't making music to sell records or get rich. These LPs are works of art that I hope someone will be turned onto as I was in the mid 70's when Zappa became the most important musical influence in my life.
I love original original pressings because I feel every LP is of it's time and place. The vinyl, and record pressings are all from that moment in time, and no re-pressing or re-mastering will ever make the sound better for me.
