ORIGINAL UK REPRISE (RSLP 2030) FIRST PRESSING (November 1970) OF ZAPPA'S FANTASTIC "Chunga's Revenge" LP - A PERFECT COMPANION TO 'HOT RATS' WITH MANY OF THE INSTRUMENTAL TRACKS VERY REMINISCENT OF THAT MASTERPIECE - AND THIS COPY IS IN BEAUTIFUL, BARELY PLAYED CONDITION DELIVERING CRYSTAL CLEAR, DEEP, RICH, WARM AND EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN AUDIO THROUGHOUT WITH PRACTICALLY NOTHING TO FAULT
PRESSED ON QUALITY MID/HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WITH DEEP TAN REPRISE LABELS WHICH CARRY THE FIRST ISSUE 'RSLP 2030' CATALOGUE NUMBER (one of last UK Reprise LPs with the RSLP prefix before the Kinney (K) came into use)

THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL MATT GATEFOLD SLEEVE "Printed and made by MacNeill Press Ltd., London, S.E.1" WHICH HAS A FACTORY SEALED LEFT SIDE EDGE AND CARRIES THE RSLP NUMBER ON THE INSIDE AS WELL AS THE FRONT AND THE SPINE
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL PLAIN WHITE INNER SLEEVE
Chunga's Revenge marks the debut of Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan (among several other musicians) with the Mothers, and while their schtick has not reached the graphic proportions it later would, the thematic obsessions of the 200 Motels period are foreshadowed on tracks like "Road Ladies" and "Would You Go All the Way?"
Other vocal numbers include the hard-rocking "Tell Me You Love Me," the musicians' union satire "Rudy Wants to Buy Yez a Drink," and the doo wop "Sharleena."
Meanwhile, Frank Zappa's strong instrumental music incorporates Eastern European influences ("Transylvania Boogie"), cocktail jazz ("Twenty Small Cigars"), and the percussion-only "The Clap."
Zappa's guitar tone is wonderfully biting and nasty throughout and George Duke provides another musical highlight with his scat-singing "drum solo."

LABELS: Clean, bright, unmarked labels with only a couple of light spindles evident - this coy has clearly seen little play- NEAR MINT
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces have a beautiful deep glossy sheen and are practically unmarked - just a couple of minor light spots only - which have no audio consequence - the playback is superb - EXCELLENT+++
VINYL Audio: Outstanding audio on this fabulous LP - very strong, and on playback at a loud volume there are no major audio issues of note - no scratches, no clicks or pops (none at all) and only the lightest touch of surface noise between one or two of the tracks - very, very minor and really hardly worth a mention. This copy is beautifully clean and is one of the finest I have heard in a long while - especially a very fist pressing with no additional K matrices (these are hard to find). Critically graded NEAR MINT for audio - just about as good as it gets - great stuff and very highly recommended indeed
SLEEVE: The matt gatefold cover is also in great shape with clean, fresh surfaces and crisp, square edges. There is a tiny amount of rubbing to the top and bottom edges (very minor) and a patch of more prominent rubbing to the spine but otherwise, this a beautifully fresh example - EXCELLENT
