As an enduring work, Fillmore East: June 1971 is a mixed bag, but it does represent the peak of the Flo & Eddie edition of the Mothers.
Most of the songs are essentially comedy routines set to music, often dealing with the life of a touring rock musician and, of course, the various opportunities for sexual adventure therein; in one scenario, Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan reprise their Turtles hit "Happy Together" in exchange for sexual favours.
The humour is often glib and juvenile, marking the beginnings of Frank Zappa's tactic of making complex music more accessible with half-sardonic arena-frontman antics and crowd-pleasing dirty jokes.
Whether one considers the results funny and parodic or crass and pandering, the band is undeniably good, especially as showcased on "Little House I Used to Live In," "Willie the Pimp, Pt. 1," and "Peaches en Regalia."

LABELS: Clean, bright, unmarked labels with just a few light spindles - EXCELLENT++
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces have a beautiful deep glossy sheen and are unmarked - MINT(-)
VINYL Audio: Outstanding audio on this fabulous LP - very strong, and on playback at a loud volume there are no audio issues of note whatsoever - no scratches, no clicks or pops (none at all) and no surface noise - this copy is exceptionally clean and plays throughout with crystal clear sound. Critically graded MINT(-) for audio - great stuff and very highly recommended indeed
SLEEVE: Having been kept inside a protective plastic wallet all it's life, the matt gatefold cover is also in great shape - one of the cleanest I have seen. The edges and spine are crisp and square - all spine text is clear and bold - and the white, untreated surfaces are practically unmarked - superb example - NEAR MINT
