Description

Up for sale is a US promotional kit for the 1969 album by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention "Uncle Meat" including a NEW, FACTORY SEALED copy of the UNCLE MEAT double album (Bizarre Records ‎2MS – 2024).
I purchased this in the 1980s from a disk jockey who was clearing out an extensive collection of music memorabilia due to his upcoming retirement. It's been residing in a bubble wrap album sleeve in the back of my closet for nearly 40 years.
I've done quit a bit of research and I'm not able to find a complete listing of the original contents of the promo kit. Looking at other current and past listings, in addition to the 8" X 10" glossy of Frank Zappa, there is another 8" X 10" glossy of him and the Mothers. As you can see from the photo, despite being stored in the portfolio its entire life, the photo is cupped as photo paper is wont to do.
In addition to the 8" 10" glossy, there is an 18" X 20 ¾" newsprint poster collage of articles about the Mothers. In many offerings the poster had been burst into its four component pages. However, this one is whole.
As you can see from the photos the portfolio, which measures 12 ¾" X 12 ¾", is a bit rough around the edges. However, I've not seen any that are in any better condition.
The most interesting aspect of this promo kit is the BRAND NEW, FACTORY SEALED copy of the 1969 Uncle Meat double LP (Bizarre Records ‎2MS – 2024). Presumably, since the album was included in the promo kit, it is the US original 28-track vinyl double LP issued on Bizarre Records with white promo labels but was subsequently withdrawn.
Differences between the withdrawn promo LP and final release LP are (1) white promotional labels on the promo LP, (2) track 3 on side 1 of the promo LP is listed as "400 Days of the Year" NOT "9 Types of Industrial Pollution" on the final release LP and (3) the matrix numbers on the trail-off vinyl of the promo LP differ from those of the final release. These differences are only apparent after the album has been opened, which I am NOT willing to do.
The promo kit will be carefully packed and shipped in a corrugated cardboard album shipped that will be enclosed inside of a larger box with extensive packing.
PLEASE NOTE: The backside of the portfolio does not say "BACK." I added that to the photo to be clear.
