Tons of Sobs is the debut album by Free, released in the UK on 14 March 1969. Free are still cited as one of the definitive bands of the British blues boom of the late 1960s even though the 1st album had little commercial success. The title of the album is both a colloquialism of "lots of money" and an oblique reference to the darker, more sombre moments of the record.
Free were a new band when they recorded Tons of Sobs, with none of them being yet twenty years old. The youngest, bassist Andy Fraser, was just sixteen. They had achieved a following through constant touring, and their debut album consisting for the most part of their live set-list would prove massively influential on far more commercial acts of the time.

SLEEVE: VG+
VINYL VISUAL : EX
AUDIO QUALITY: EX TO EX+
LABELS: EX+
A superb piece of glossy vinyl, and a really thick pressing. Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original early pressings, this vinyl has been little played. Seen under a spot light it does have some faint sleeve removal marks, and a few hairlines, but the are light and have no effect on the sound. There are a few short light hairlines and one very light scratch, but these are strictly cosmetic and have no effect on the sound, as clearly outlines in the audio description above.
A really wonderful example. Strictly grades EX to EX+
An Island pressing of Tons of Sobs in this type of condition is incredibly scarce.
Any EARLY UK PRESS examples with a record in this type of condition, that plays with TOP AUDIO is very rare.
PINK Island pressings are infinitely more rare than the later labels, but finding pressings that sound great is a real challenge.
THIS A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE PIECE OF MUSICAL HISTORY, WITH A WONDERFUL RICH SOUND THAT IS NOW GETTING SERIOUSLY HARD TO FIND.
