THE FRESHIES - THE "OCTOPUS" SONG - WORDS AND MUSIC BY CHRIS SIEVEY (UK, ABSURD NINE - SHEET MUSIC - 1979) ACCOMPANIED WITH A PERSONAL LETTER FROM CHRIS SIEVEY ON THE BACK OF AN A4 FRESHIES-CLIPPINGS FLYER Original and very rare 1979 memorabilia item by the great Manchester artist Chris Sievey and his band The Freshies - a pioneer of DIY punk movement and composer of some of the greatest powerpop songs of the late '70s and early '80s - later known by his Frank Sidebottom persona. The 'Octopus' song sheet music is a double-printed yellow-ish A4 paper, originally with some copies of "The Men From Banana Island ep" (Razz Records, Razz-3 7" from 1979) but available as an extra promotional item too. It actually belongs to the Absurd label's catalogue as it carries the unique code 'Absurd 9'

Original and very rare 1979 memorabilia item by the great Manchester artist Chris Sievey and his band The Freshies - a pioneer of DIY punk movement and composer of some of the greatest powerpop songs of the late '70s and early '80s - later known by his Frank Sidebottom persona.
The 'Octopus' song sheet music is a double-printed yellow-ish A4 paper, originally with some copies of "The Men From Banana Island ep" (Razz Records, Razz-3 7" from 1979) but available as an extra promotional item too. It actually belongs to the Absurd label's catalogue as it carries the unique code 'Absurd 9' (you will notice that there is no record on the collectable Manchester label with this code).
The sheet music was sent to fan by Chris Sievey ("..I've also enclosed a copy of 'Octopus' so you can have a good old singalong.." ) together with a copy of the single and a letter that also lists the rest of Freshies and Chris Sievey releases (the letter is not dated but comes from 1980 as it includes the single RAZZ-7 No Money/Oh Girl which was released in mid-1980). The letter is written on the back of a press-clippings page with reviews on Freshies singles and an NME review by C.P.Lee of the legendary book 'Virgin book of Reject Slips'..
A really great memorabilia item from the DIY punk & new wave scene and the legendary band from Manchester, 100% genuine and in very nice condition.
