Description
James Reese and The Progressions "Let's Go (It's Summertime)" b/w "Jody's Freeze" - Najma Records 45rpm #945. Excellent condition, great shine, labels are clean. Super rare northern soul instrumental from this funky trombone kid that did some time with Bohannon, was re-issued by Jazzman records in the UK based on it's floor filler status. Summertime sounds a bit like the verses to "The World is a Ghetto" with the easygoing groove, whereas “Jody’s Freeze” is far from frozen. "It’s a perky, jazzy, floor shuffling concoction of pungent horns, howling Hammond and a spit fire paradise of percussion. The tempo’s temperature increases till your arms, knees and legs are completely thawed out from jerking, flipping, flopping and prancing around the dance floor. Well that’s what happened to me!" (from the Jazzman website) This, however, is no re-issue...it's the real deal. Have a listen to Jody's Freeze.
