Description
URANIA URLP 7095 mono only Beethoven: Sym. 3 "Eroica". Wilhelm Furtwangler, Vienna PO. The disc and jacket are in NEAR MINT condition (maybe played only once or possibly twice). It's a Red Label pressing from 1953. This is the rarest Furtwangler and one of the rarest of all important records! The master tape seems to destroyed or lost for this recording; and John Ardoin in his "The Furtwangler Record' says that this is the greatest of his Eroica's. Ardoin "The '44 whose spontaneity lifts the music to a higher expressive plane".. "it's fire is more warming" It was recorded in Vienna 19-20 Dec. 1944. If you know the other issues from Vienna at this period by F. you will know how good this sounds. It's rarity is based on the fact that right after it was issued Furtwangler legally stopped the sale of this pirate recording and Urania had to pull them from the stores! Need I say more? We never charge for packing, only exact postage charges. 35,000 in stock and no retail outlet! For more great performers from the Golden Age of Recording check out www.wingrecords.com.
