Fac 51 The Hacienda Temperance Club Badge & Flyer
May 1st 1986

(Click on any image to enlarge)You are bidding for a cross shaped enamel badge and a flyer designed for the Temperance Club night at the Hacienda. The badge features an enamel white and silver diagonal stripe design on the front and has a button fastening at the back (repro badges have a pin fastening). The unusual flyer is on transparent paper with black text – both items cost The Hacienda (using New Orders money) a fortune to produce and are typical examples of Factory’s commitment to the aesthetic.

The Temperance Club was the idea of Paul Cons and he brought in Dave Haslam (DJ Hedd) to DJ playing indie music. It was completely geared towards students and was the only place where you could hear indie music played for the dancefloor. It was here that the much hyped indie-crossover scene began. In May 1990 the NME said:
“In the hands of DJ Haslam, Thursday night at the Hacienda has become, simply, the best night out in Britain”.
