Fairport Convention 1st Press Sth African LP What we did VG+ ’69 Fontana Folk
Fairport Convention
What we did on our holidays
Original 1st press South African LP released in 1969 on Fontana Records. Cat: STL 233.
Sandy Denny's haunting, ethereal vocals gave Fairport a big boost on her debut with the group. A more folk-based album than their initial effort, What We Did on Our Holidays is divided between original material and a few well-chosen covers. This contains several of their greatest moments: Denny's "Fotheringay," Richard Thompson's "Meet on the Ledge," the obscure Joni Mitchell composition "Eastern Rain," the traditional "She Moves Through the Fair," and their version of Bob Dylan's "I'll Keep It with Mine.
Tracks : Fotheringay/ Mr. lacey/ Book song/ The lord is in this place how dreadful is this place/ No man’s land/ I’ll keep it with mine/ Eastern rain/ Nottamun town/ Tale in hard time/ She moves through the fair/ Meet on the ledge/ End of the holiday.
Record has some light scuff marks and a few very light scratches that cause some light crackles throughout. There is a little surface noise on start of first track side one. Record is in VG+ condition. Full gloss cover has scuffing on corners, tiny surface tears around edges, a small sticker stain on top right corner, small tears along spine and is in VG+ condition.
