Description
Here is a GREAT ORIGINAL and UNIQUE LP that has become tough to find these days. And this one is the REAL DEAL!
In this auction:
· “FAMOUS MONSTERS SPEAK!” LP
· This is the ORIGINAL 1st PRESSING of this LP on the AA Records label.
· It was released in 1963.
· What makes this a 1st Pressing? The 1st Pressing Covers have the AA Records logo at top left. Later pressings of this LP (1973 and later) have the circular Wonderland/Golden Records logo at top left. Later pressings have images of other Golden Records issues on the rear cover. The 1st Pressing covers have 8 small still shots of Frankenstein and Dracula from the B&W movies. The 1st Pressing labels are blue, but the Golden Record labels are yellow.
· This LP was associated with the 1960s magazine series, FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, and it was advertised in that magazine. The connection to the magazine is printed on the rear cover at top right beside 2 images of 2 different issues of that monsters magazine.
· One side has the story of Frankenstein and the other side has the story of Dracula in a radio show-type presentation with creepy voices and the accompanying sound effects.
· This LP was issued at the time Universal Pictures’ monster movies were hot items in the theaters and when Aurora originally issued the models of these famous monsters for kids to paint and assemble. So if you have or collect the Aurora Monster Models, don’t pass up this LP that has them pictured on the cover.
· The COVER is in BEAUTIFUL NEAR MINT CONDITION and STILL in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP. There are just a couple of very small pushes on the corners at the top and bottom of the spine and a very tiny push on the bottom right corner. There is an original yellow “K-MART” price sticker on the front shrink wrap. The shrink wrap has a 3 ½ inch split on the bottom near the opening. There is also a ½ split in the shrink wrap at the bottom of the spine. The primarily white rear cover is “snowy white” with NO aging/foxing. It is very hard to find this LP with a cover as nice as this one!
· The VINYL is also in NEAR MINT CONDITION, quite an accomplishment after more than 55 years! There are a couple of very light spindle trails on the labels. You will be hard-pressed to find a copy with better vinyl than this one!
This LP will definitely be a nice addition to someone’s VINTAGE MONSTERS COLLECTION or VINYL COLLECTION!!!
FYI: I use Goldmine Grading Standards (P for Poor, F for Fair, G for Good, G+ for Good Plus, VG for Very Good, VG+ for Very Good Plus, NM for Near Mint, M for Mint) to VISUALLY GRADE this LP, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding.
