Description

  • Cal Tjader 1956 deep groove red vinyl monaural original 12” LP “Tjader Plays Mambo” (Fantasy 3221).
  • It features Cal Tjader (vibes, concero), Manual Duran (piano, claves), Bayardo Velarde (timbales, concero, conga), Carlos Duran (bass), Edgard Rosales or Luis Miranda (congas, maracas) and Dick Collins, Al Porcino, Charlie Walp and John Howell (trumpets on four of the tracks).
  • The tracklist is: Yesterdays/Out Of Nowhere/Fascinatin’ Rhythm/Guarachi Guaro/The Lady Is A Tramp/It Ain’t Necessarily So/Have You Met Miss Jones/For Heaven’s Sake/Mambo Macumba/East Of The Sun/Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen/I Concentrate On You.
  • The glossy vinyl is visually near mint and overall the LP plays great with crisp, clear playback. There is some surface noise (not at all overwhelming) at the lead in dead wax and first few revolutions but clears up nicely for the rest of the album. The glossy cover is close to mint. Included is an original insert with a list of then available Fantasy recordings.
