Description
FIRST PRESS BLUE NOTE MONO, 1956
This is the original Mono, Deep Groove, RVG etched, with "ears" on both sides of label, pressing of "The Fabulous Fats Navarro Vol. 1, on the 47 W. 63rd Street labels of Blue Note BLP 1531. The playing surface is immaculate, with a high luster; looks rarely played. The jacket has the 767 Lexington Ave. New York 21 address and is in excellent condition but for one 5" split at top. Some edge and corner wear.
The labels are bright and clean
He was a pioneer of the bebop style of jazz improvisation in the 1940s. He had a strong stylistic influence on many other players, most notably Clifford Brown.
.The musicians are Fats Navarro, Howard McGhee (trumpet), Ernie Henry (alto sax), Sonny Rollins, Wardell Gray, Allen Eager (tenor sax), Bud Powell, Tadd Dameron (piano), Milt Jackson (piano, vibes), Tommy Potter, Curly Russell (bass), Roy Haynes, Kenny Clarke (drums), Chino Pozo (percussion).
One of the cleanest copies I have seen in many years.
