Elvis’ first 45 RPM record ever released
Pristine Condition
You are bidding on a super rare original 45 by Elvis Presley on SUN records (SUN 209) in near new, excellent condition with no visible flaws. The record was a SUN promotional with the songs “BLUE MOON OF KENTUCK”Y and “THAT'S ALL RIGHT” by Elvis Presley and accompanied by Scotty and Bill. This is the first 45 released by Elvis. A young Elvis Presley chose to sing "Blue Moon of Kentucky" when he auditioned for the Grand Ole Opry in 1954 and recorded the song for his first Sun Records single. Presley later apologized to its writer, William Smith Monroe, for changing the arrangement of his song. The record was released in July 1954.
The original sleeve is also in good condition. It is open half way down both sides.
While serving in the United States Air Force I was stationed at Keesler AFB at Biloxi Mississippi from early 1953 through 1955. I became acquainted with a local man there who supplied jukeboxes for restaurants and drive-ins and such. He periodically would update the records, which he procured from a supply house in New Orleans. One afternoon I accompanied him on such a buying trip and the counter attendant while filling his order gave him an original new record in a plain envelope and said "here, try this, it's a new guy". My friend promptly gave me the record, as he wasn't interested in it. I have had the record since that day and only played it a very few times.
Again, it is in excellent condition and still in the original envelope.
Three push marks are present of both sides of the record (photos on request). Also the following is scribed on the vinyl (both sides): "u-128-45 72".
