PRODUCER George Martin COVER DESIGN /PHOTO/ NOTES East  Coast issued in straight cut top (printed by Queens Litho in New York)
Photo: classic black and white Dezo Hoffmann portrait COMMENTS Released in the US on December 26, 1963, "I Want To Hold Your Hand" became the Beatles' first U.S. number one (Billboard Hot 100, February 1, 1964), and kick-started the British Invasion of America. It remained on the Billboard chart for 15 weeks.
Capitol originally scheduled the single for release on 3rd. January 1964, but moved up its release date to 26th. December 1963, after some U.S. radio stations began playing the U.K. single containing the song.

The picture sleeve issued with Capitol's first Beatles single features a classic black and white Dezo Hoffmann portrait of the group dressed in their collarless jackets. Ringo is seated in a wooden chair, surrounded by his fellow band mates. Paul holds a lit cigarette between the top and second fingers of his light hand.
"THE BEATLES" , the song titles, the catalogue number 5112 and the Capitol oval logo appear in the white background rectangle above the photo.
The open side of the sleeve has "I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND" above and in larger type than "I SAW HER STANDING THERE".
The other side of the sleeve reverses the song titles.

The picture sleeves were prepared by two different printers: Queens Litho in New York (East Coast) and Bert-Co Enterprises of Los Angeles (West Coast).
1) The East Coast Queens Litho sleeves shows all of George's head, and have a straight cut top.
