4 Lp Box set German DG 2720 059 Fischer Dieskau and Gerald Moore in the three great Schubert Lieder cycles; Winterreise, Die Schone Mullerin & Schwanengesang. What makes this 1973 box a little outstanding is that it still has the portrait dustwrapper over the cloth box, which in all my years of collecting and selling is always missing. More importantly these are very highly critically regarded performances. I have a taste for the Winterreise cycle, and have a good few accounts, including this set. These middle period Fischer-Dieskau readings are wonderfully dramatic, with him in fine voice and Moore is the finest accompaniest who ever lived. There is a further two boxes to make a complete set of all the Schubert Lieder, but this is the one with the most profound sets of songs to it. Includes booklet and original reviews pasted in lid.
