Description
For the next few weeks I will be listing a bunch of 45s I picked up over the last couple years and have decided not to keep. There will be 1950s-60s rock, doo wop, R&B, Northern Soul, garage - a little bit of everything. Dealing with returns is a real drag, so I try to describe things as accurately as possible - usually on the conservative side. All my feedbacks have so far been great. I won't list a record that looks worse than VG. I don't own a record cleaner. I give them a quick wipe with a damp cloth, but any further cleaning I leave to the buyer.
THIS LOT: This is the extremely rare and sought after 7" 45 RPM "Basement Walls/ Eight Shades of Brown" by The What Fours on Fleetwood Records # FL 4571 from 1967. This is a fantastic, raw garage 7" with fuzz guitar. It's been awhile since this one has come up for auction in any condition so don't miss out on bidding because you may not see another for some time. The record was recorded at Fleetwood Studios in Revere MA in early 1967 and features Nick Koumoutseas on bass, Mikkel Saks on rhythm guitar, John Bello on drums and Scott Keenan on lead guitar. The correct name of the band was "The What Four" but the company added the "s" by mistake. This band hailed from Tufts University in Medford MA and only released this one single which can be heard on Youtube. This is the only copy I've ever seen in person. DO NOT MISS THIS ONE.Generic sleeve. See my other auctions for more 45s from this collection.
CONDITION: Ex with great original gloss, no scratches or other audible marks. Virtually no surface noise. I've listened to both sides several times. On side 2 at the beginning of the second verse I can hear one single, solitary "tick" - not a skip or a jump, just a tick. It's barely noticeable - I didn't notice it until my 2nd or 3rd listen. Other than that, I heard virtually no surface noise - no steady crackling, no other ticks or pops - this record plays beautifully. The only other issue is a VERY slight warp on the outer edge, just enough so I can see the tone arm raise slightly. It doesn't effect play at all, and is mentioned in the description only for complete accuracy. Labels have minor wear, no damage. I don't know how many of these are out there, but this has to be one of the nicer ones. Generic sleeve.
US SHIPPING: Free shipping via First Class Parcel with tracking. Expedited shipping will be available at the buyer's expense.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: Worldwide shipping via Priority International with insurance - $35. I will not send a package valued at $100 or more overseas without insurance. NOTICE!! I use Ebay shipping labels. It's the only way I can prove to Ebay that I shipped a package to the proper address if ever there's a dispute. Unfortunately, those labels will always have customs information - including the actual price of the merchandise - clearly printed on them. I realize that customs fees are a concern in the UK and other countries, but you'll just have to figure that into your cost when placing bids.
TO ALL BUYERS: If there's a problem, contact me. I'm easy to work with. I may goof things up once in a while, but I've always been able to work out any problems. All items guaranteed to be AS DESCRIBED. Check my feedbacks. Buyer must notify seller within 48 hours if not satisfied with purchase.
