This handsome LP – a superb collector’s copy – from Epic (LC 3331, US pressing, gold radial label, mono – no stereo edition exists) features Leon Fleisher’s masterful accounts of Brahms’s Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Handel Op. 24 and the Waltzes Op. 39, all warmly recorded at Columbia 30th Street Studio, New York, on 31 May 1956.

Over 60 years on these remain reference recordings, landmarks in the Brahms discography.

There are insightful liner notes on the reverse side of the jacke tby Alvin Bauman, provided in English only. The striking cover photo of Fleisher is uncredited.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is minor wear at corners, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners' markings, or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, and glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a very fine collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
