Description

An interesting and rare disc here. Done as a drama with Edith Evans (before she was a dame) playing the younger Florence Nightingale. Goes on to feature Nightingale herself at the end of side "2", thransferred form a cylinder. The intention was that there was to be a series of "19th Century Celebrity" records made featuring, among others Gladstone ands Edison himself. Unfortunately due to lack of interest (i.e. sales) in the 1st issue (this one) the series was discontinued. I've photographed side 2 as this is the worse of the two.  Some rubs and a few scuffs. Note the scratches at around "4 o'clock". These only give a few light clicks. The rest of the disc plays with little surface noise and no clicks, pops or distortion. Should read: "BRITISH EMPIRE CANCER CAMPAIGN" The labels both sides have had the word "cancer" scratched out. Comes in shop sleeve as in pic.
